Among contemporary innovations that have changed the way we live, work and love, the contribution of mobile phone technologies (cell phone and the latest smartphones) is phenomenal. Owning a mobile phone brings a sense of identity, personhood, privacy and freedom, particularly for adolescents and young people. Along with this revolution, there are a new set of moral panics that are getting triggered around issues of sexuality.

Prof Lakshmi Lingam, a gender expert, with the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India, will share the findings and observations of a just-concluded study on the subject funded by the UNICEF, India.
